Maybe you’re a fan of Marvel or DC movies — whichever side you take on that debate, you can’t deny superheroes don’t tend to spend much time thinking about the sheer amount of risk they expose themselves to on a daily basis. Enough, that is, to give any insurance agent or underwriter an instant heart attack!
So, Batman? He’s always zooming around Gotham in the Batmobile. Which is basically a tank. But have you seen how he drives? Come on — he’s gotta be breaking every traffic law there is.
Imagine Batman speeding down the highway, chasing the Joker, and bam — he sideswipes a row of parked cars. Whoops. If Bruce Wayne had thought ahead, he might’ve gotten some auto insurance to cover those damages. Even billionaires need insurance, after all.
The Flash is fast, super fast. But does he even care about speed limits? DOUBT IT. So, picture this: The Flash is running through Seattle at like, lightning speed, and suddenly, he’s blown past a bunch of traffic cameras.
Speeding tickets, anyone? If Barry Allen had a good sense of safe speeds, he wouldn’t need to worry about those fines. Because let’s face it, even heroes have to obey traffic laws.
Wonder Woman’s got that Lasso of Truth, which is pretty awesome. But what happens when she accidentally ropes in a bystander? Not so great. Just imagine if she’s in the middle of a battle, throws her lasso, and whoops — catches some rando.
Now, she’s facing a potential lawsuit. If Diana had some personal injury insurance, she could’ve avoided the whole mess. She might need an umbrella policy, for that matter!
Aquaman controls the ocean, which is cool until it’s not. Like, when he accidentally causes a tsunami. Just think about Aquaman is battling some sea monster, and suddenly, a giant wave floods downtown Seattle.
That’s gonna leave a mark. And while Aquaman might not have an issue living in a flooded home, most people are gonna want a solid flood insurance add-on to their primary homeowners policy.
Superman is all powerful, right? But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t cause a few accidents now and then. Like, remember the time he crash-landed in Tacoma and took out a whole building?
Not his best moment. If Superman had known the poor building owner had a solid general liability policy, he wouldn’t have to worry about the guilt of covering those repair costs. Even heroes need a little help sometimes. And so do Tacoma building owners, apparently.
Tony Stark is a genius — but even geniuses mess up. Take that time his drone delivery system went haywire and dropped a package into Lake Washington. Yeah. Not great.
If Stark Industries had some business insurance, they’d be covered for the costs of replacing that lost package. Because even billionaires don’t like losing money (in fact, they hate it!).
Captain America’s shield is practically indestructible. But that doesn’t mean it can’t cause some serious damage. Cap throws his shield pretty willy-nilly, and one day it might just accidentally crash through the window of a coffee shop.
Oops. If that shop has commercial property insurance, they won’t have to worry about the cost of repairs. Cap might be a hero, but he’s not covering that bill.
Superhero battles are epic, but they can also leave cities in ruins. When half the city is leveled in a fight — who’s paying for all that destruction? If the city had some mythical all-encompassing “city protection policy,” then the rebuilding process wouldn’t be such a nightmare. Because cleaning up after a superhero showdown isn’t cheap.
In any event, those heroes are gonna be on the hook! And if they decide to wipe out Seattle during one of their battles, people aren’t gonna be happy about it.
